Conference location

Flights

There are daily direct flights from most European and from some North American cities to Liszt Ferenc Airport. The terminal (2A, 2B) is situated on the SE margin of Budapest, 20 km from the city centre and is a destination for many low fare air carriers, too.

Transport options from Liszt Ferenc Airport:

  • Airport Minibus service
  • Public transport buses: 200E, circulates between the terminal and the Kőbánya-Kispest station of  metro line M3 (“blue line”)100E between the terminal and Deák Ferenc tér also on metro line M3. Both bus lines are air conditioned and operate at 8-15-minute intervals during daytime.
  • Trains from the terminal leave for Nyugati railway station frequently. 
  • Taxi service Főtaxi has exclusive rights for operation from (and to) the airport for fixed fares.

There is a direct coach transport from the Vienna International Airport to Népliget coach station, Budapest, which is close to the Conference location (only one stop with the metro line M3 ("blue line")). 

Train

Budapest has direct rail links to several European capitals. There are three major international railway stations in Budapest: Keleti Pályaudvar (Eastern Railway Station) on metro lines M2 and M4 (“red and green lines”); Nyugati pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) on metro line M3 (“blue line”); Déli Pályaudvar (Southern Railway Station) on metro line M2 (“red line”). Local travel

The Hungarian National History Museum is in walking distance both to Nagyvárad tér metro station and to Klinikák metro station (metro line M3). Tram line 24 also stops nearby. The Népliget coach and bus station is also very close (walking distance or one stop with metro line M3) where tram line 1 and many local buses stop (see http://www.bkk.hu/en/).

The Soil Zoological Collection - including Myriapoda Collection - is in another building (Department of Zoology, Baross street 13). Personal arrangements can be made to visit it. The collection can be reached in about 20 minutes with public transport from the conference location.
